Margret Grey Lace II stared at the scroll in front of her, almost scared to open it. She had stolen it a few days ago from someone that had stolen it from another, then she had set the date earlier to meet the person she had stolen it for that day, only to find them dead in their apartment. The priest said it was magic that had killed him, they just didn't know who did it. That, Margret figured, gave her fair game over the scroll. She did get it, and she hadn't been paid.
The problem was that she had no idea what it was. She was getting paid, it wasn't something that could harm mankind. That was enough for her, so she hadn't questioned it. So she sat there, in a tree, getting ready to open it.
She pulled the paper apart to find a map – but what was it of? It was a oval shaped place with lots of rivers, and in dead center was a small dot. The dot probably covered... what, fifty feet of space? But why would it be there? Margret pulled out her own map and compared the two. There was a long stretch of uncharted woods. People lived in Silvia (the said stretch of woods), except a rough oval shape in the middle. The Dark Forest of Silvia. It was kind of redundant, considering it was all dark forest. But it was rumored that demons live in that part of the forest, and no one had ever come out alive.
The story was from a town that was burned down from raiders, and it killed everyone. When people had tried rebuild the town and live there, but strange sighting and disappearances becoming more frequent, it was clear there was something strange going on. People said that demons had become so close to their homes that they had never left.
But, looking closer, the map (that Margret at stolen) was a larger replica of the Dark Forest of Silvia... there must be something in there that was valuable, but since the people moved out of there (a hundred years ago), no one had made it through alive. Strange. There was something in there, and Margret decided to figure out what it was – or what it could be.
She rolled up both maps and put them in her bag, dropped out of the tree and headed towards the center of the village. She needed to talk to someone who knew about demons, and possibly someone who knew what was there, and the town center – the tavern, to be specific – seemed like good place to start.
Margret caught her refection in a town window. She was wearing a black leather vest, black pants that where just tough enough to protect her from small things, and just lose enough for her to be able to move swiftly. She had thick leather black leather boots and a long dark cloak. She dressed like a male, but that was just for comfort. Everything was custom made, of course. She made enough money after all.
Moving her – you guessed it – leather bag from one shoulder to her other, she reached the tavern. Without a second thought, she opened the doors and walked in.

Krios sat in a dark corner of the tavern at a table. He was eating dinner, which he had bought from the tavern keeper. He drank a bit of ale from his mug and barely even noticed the woman who just entered the tavern. Most of the patrons didn't pay much attention either, pausing a second to see who had entered and then resuming their various activities.

''Oi!'' Margret said, trying to get their attention. And it worked, because most of their heads turned towards her, even the tavern keeper looked up. ''I'm looking for people to go with me to the dark forest. Anyone man enough?'' She had a sly smile on her face, as if saying duh, I know more then you as she walked to the center of the tavern. ''Anyone?'' Margret asked again.

The Tavern patrons looked at her for a second before bursting out laughing. One of them spoke up "Ha! You? Go into the dark forest? Hahahahahaha!" Another one spoke "You, lass, couldn't survive in an average forest, let alone the Dark Forest!" A third patron, who happened to be a dwarf spoke "Yeah! You're not even a good at your own business!" He said "I hired her once and she couldn't even steal the broad side of me barn!"

''How... how would you even steal a barn?'' Margret asked herself under her breath, pretty sure that no one could hear. ''Hey,'' she put another sly smile on her face. ''It was not my fault you told me to steal a three hundred pound of metal, Alfred.'' She said, walking up to him. She slammed one hand down on the table, her other hand took his coin pouch and put it in her pocket. The table (and people at said table) was blocking it from three angles, and she was blocking it from the other angle. It was impossible for anyone to have seen, and Alfred was too busy looking at her slamming hand for the second, so Margret had it in her pocket so fast that no one could tell. ''Wait...'' she said, smiling once more. ''If I can't steal, then how did I get this?'' She held up the pouch.

-BARFIGHT-
Alfred the dwarf stood up. "Hey!" he said "That's my coin purse! You dirty rotten daughter of a weredragon!" The dwarf brandished a double sided battle ax and just then he was hit in the back of the head by a wooden mug. The dwarf fell over and a full out bar fight broke out. Krios finished what he was eating, drank the last bit of ale in his cup, and headed through the crowd of people beating each other up. As he passed by Margret, he said to her loud enough for her to hear. "Meet me outside" Krios then moved on through the crowd, avoiding getting hit as he made his way to the door to the tavern. He opened it and went outside. He paused and moved to the side of the door, leaning up against a wall.

Margret picked up a bottle and smacked someone on the head with it. A barfight. Fun! But then, some guy told her to meet him outside. Shoot. This was just getting fun! Oh, well. Margret made sure everything was in her bag before she walked out and faced him. ''Yeah?'' She asked as soon as she could hear him.

((Lawl. Just realized they probably didn't have beer bottles back then. Also, "As soon as she could hear him"? He wasn't saying anything))
Krios spoke "I am willing to escort you through the Dark Forest. How much are you going to pay?"
Meanwhile, Alfred the dwarf got back up and looked around, dazed. He lifted his axe and started after where Margret had gone. He smashed a few people in the knee, gut and other places with the pummel of his axe as he went.

Margret rolled her eyes. ''We're looking for treasure. You can split it once we get to it, but it would be foolish of me to pay you. But, I will cover the cost. Weapons, food, spare clothes. Sound good?'' She offered.

"No" Krios replied. "I want that dwarf's coin pouch as advanced payment" The monster slayer didn't seem like he would accept anything other than what he had just stated.
Alfred made it to the door and barged out. He turned and saw Margret, he let loose a battle cry and charged the thief. Krios responded quickly, he unsheathed his silver longsword and moved around Margret, countering the dwarf's axe swing and then stabbing the dwarf through the heart, killing him.

''I actually meant to give it back to him. I don't steal, really. Oh, well. Your loss.'' Margret said, tossing the bag up and down in her hand.
When the dwarf charged her, Margret did a backwards roll to avoid him, then realized there was a knife in him. Oh, gods.

((Dude, it was a SWORD. And Krios' pulled the sword out after he stabbed him. Btw, she wouldn't say "Oh gods"))
"You're welcome," Krios said as he turned back towards Margret. Suddenly there was a voice from above them that shouted "No! You have killed our sensei and now you will die! Dwarf ninja assassins attack!!" From three nearby roofs a bunch of black cloaked dwarves jumped down. They flipped around into place so they were surrounding them, each one held a double sided battle axe, very similar to the one Alfred had.

Margret didn't have time to respond as a ninja dwarf swung it's axe at her. She dodged it, rolled behind another ninja dwarf and stabbed it in it's back with a knife. The dwarf turned around and punched her. Margret's nose started bleeding, but she punched the dwarf again and it fell over on it's stomach. Margret took her blade from the wound and started to turn and punch and kick at every dwarf she found. It was a good think Krios was helping her, or else she would have been dead in minutes.

The dwarves were surprisingly agile, Krios cut at one but he jumped to the side. A dwarf moved around him to strike him from behind but Krios flipped the blade in his hands and stabbed backwards, stabbing the dwarf. He then pulled his sword out and flipped it around again, blocking an axe and stabbing the dwarf who had swung it. Krios continued to fight the dwarves until eventually there were none remaining.
